First of all, I hope that everyone had as wonderful of a holiday season as I did. I had a great time with family and friends, which was a wonderful way to close out a year that I think most people agree wasn’t so great for various reasons.
Great, now that that’s out of the way, check out the games I got for Christmas and my birthday, which falls on December 13th:

You might look at that list and say “Hey 2012 called, and it wants its games back!” Well, it can’t have them, because these are some great games! I know that the Dominion expansion is older, and of course Pandemic Legacy is newer, but otherwise it just sort of worked out that I got three games from my wishlist that are all from 2012. I don’t own a ton of games, and I typically only get 3-4 new games a year, which means there are a ton of great games out there that I’ve missed out on. Besides, I’ve never put any emphasis on having to have whatever the newest thing is – give me a deal on something a little older than that expensive new thing any day of the week! And, like I said before – these are great games! I’ve played them all at least once, and I can’t wait to play them all again, especially Pandemic Legacy, which I can already tell is going to live up to the hype.
Aside from new games, I’ve also adopted a New Year’s resolution, which I typically don’t do. I’m not resolving to go to the gym every week or to stop eating fast food or stop swearing or anything crazy, but I have challenged myself to read more because I realized that I read next to nothing in all of 2016. As an English Major, this makes me ashamed of myself. And so to this end I found this reading challenge through a little process I like to call “typing ‘reading challenge’ into a Google search bar.” Using this cutting edge technique, I arbitrarily picked one of the first suggestions that popped up, which was this:
My goal is to use a different book for each entry, instead of doubling, tripling, or quadrupling down, which I could easily do with several of these categories. I plan to update my progress here periodically, so wish me luck!
I’m also going to do my level best to play more games, get involved in a regular roleplaying group, and update my blog more in 2017 than I did in 2016. If you want to call those resolutions as well then I suppose you can, because I suppose they are.
Oh, and I would be remiss if I didn’t mention this awesome dice bag I received for Christmas courtesy of a Twitter friend:
How can I not play more games with a bag the likes of this? It has officially replaced my trusty old Crown Royal bag as my dice bag of choice.
That’s it for now; Happy New Year, everyone!
